A WEEKEND TO ENJOY ART IN THE RANGES

Open Studios Waitākere

Thank you

Open Studios Waitākere is an annual weekend opportunity for artists resident in the Waitākere Ranges Local Board area to open their studios to the public. With over 80 artists involved, and 40 studios from Piha to Glen Eden, Titirangi to Te Henga, it was an inspiring weekend out and about!

The weekend in November 2024 provided the opportunity to meet local artists, see art in action, purchase local artwork and learn about the creative process. Many visited some of Waitākere's most celebrated artists including sculptors, painters, jewellers, illustrators, ceramic artists and photographers.

Thank you for all those who joined us in celebrating creativity in our area.

Artists

Thank you to all our artists who shared their work with us this year. We loved seeing the beautiful art and creativity across the Waitakere Ranges.

Meet Anieszka Banks

In preparation for this year's Open Studio Waitākere event, we had the pleasure of visiting the home studios of five exceptionally talented artists, accompanied by a skilled local cameraman. Our journey took us across the Local Board Area, from Titirangi to Karekare.

We are thrilled to introduce you to Anieszka Banks, a gifted mixed-media illustrator and creator. Anieszka explores various mediums, including acrylics, paper cutting, collage, photography, and drawing, alongside crafting beautiful handmade beeswax candles and crayons. Her home studio is a vibrant and whimsical haven, overflowing with color, creativity, and a delightful hint of chaos.

You can meet Anieszka at Open Studios Waitākere 2024 on Sunday, November 24th, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Please note: Sunday only.

Meet Mandy Patmore

In preparation for this year's Open Studio Waitākere event, we had the pleasure of visiting the home studios of five exceptionally talented artists, accompanied by a skilled local cameraman. Our journey took us across the Local Board Area, from Titirangi to Karekare.

We are thrilled to introduce you to Mandy Patmore, a multi-media environmental artist who lives in Karekare. Mandy has a passionate relationship with her local environment. Her current work focuses largely on deforestation and habitat loss in New Zealand, and the plight of many endangered native species.

You can meet Mandy at Open Studios Waitākere 2024 on Saturday and Sunday.
